Chess Ministry

In this session, participants will have opportunities to learn how to play the game of chess while connecting the game of chess to a participant’s Christian walk and the psychology behind decision making. Participants will gain valuable insights through chess in an effort to understand fear and risk as it relates to Christianity and Christian communities.

What To Expect

No Chess or Christian Experience Necessary (come to learn and ask questions).

You often hear that chess is closely related to life. We as Christians know that our life is directly impacted by our relationship with Jesus Christ. A goal of the Chess Ministry is to use chess as a platform to strengthen our relationship with Jesus in an effort to make your Christian Walk more purposeful.

Do you need to be “good” at chess to attend? No. In fact, you don’t need to know how to play chess at all. You may just wonder why so many people play chess and are fascinated by it. If you are a parent who wants their child to learn chess, you can attend as well. We will also reflect on Scripture in each meeting.

Just like we want to continuously improve our Christian walk, the chess ministry will be used to explore different aspects of chess (and the psychological aspects) in order to improve our chess play. Both Christianity and chess require continued effort and practice while always providing more opportunities for learning.

Come ready to think and reflect! The chess ministry allows for frequent questions as this is a part of growth in any discipline. Remember that our “primary” goal is our relationship with Jesus! I look forward to working with all of you and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

What will learn about our relationship with Jesus through chess?

Fear, Faith, Patience, Decision making, Learning vs Doing, and much more!
